What to wear to a rodeo is a question we frequently get, and this year we decided to offer all of you cowgirls out there a few suggestions. Don’t sweat it – putting together a comfortable outfit that allows you to stay cool in the summer heat is as easy as pie. And the best part? You probably already own most, if not all, of these items.
So let’s get started!
Jeans, Jeans, Jeans. Jeans have a long-standing tradition in Western apparel. It makes perfect sense. Not only are they comfortable and breathable, they’re also durable. A snug pair of boot-cut jeans are pretty much a requirement at a rodeo. Cut-offs are also a popular choice and are sure to keep you cool.
“But I’m a fashionista,” you say? We got you covered. Just tuck your flattering skinny jeans into your cowboy boots and you’ll be good to go.
A basic, white Western Snap Shirt. You just can’t go wrong with this all-time favorite. Roll up the sleeves, or keep ‘em long for a more traditional look. Just layer it with some flair, and you’ll be amazed at the sizzlin’ looks you’ll get.
A pair of stylish cowboy boots. So many choices, so little time. When it comes to cowboy boots, stick to the real thing. We suggest real leather boots from companies like Frye, Ariat, and Justin. Check out websites like Zappos to find a pair in wide or narrow, and to avoid the long line at western apparel stores. If you want to look the part at a rodeo, nothing says yeehaw better than a cool pair of cowboy…uh… we mean, cowgirl boots.
Western accessories. Is your turquoise necklace calling your name? Go ahead, and sling it on. Adding key pieces like a beautiful necklace is a great way to spice up your do. Just remember to keep the rest of the outfit simple. A nice, black or white Tee and an understated wash on your jeans can really tie your look together.
Go big or go home. A big, silver belt buckle is essential at a rodeo. The belt should be made of real leather for an authentic look. And remember – always tuck your shirt in when going to a rodeo. It can be – how should we say – a bit of a buckle fest.
Ready to ride that bull? We thought so. Enjoy all of the fun rodeo events, and we hope you’ll visit us again soon!
